Last updated 2 October 2026
These terms cover using our website, booking a table, visiting the bar and buying gift cards. The gift card terms are in section 6. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Nine Lives is a trading name of Eight Holyrood Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
- Company number
- 08383282
- Registered office
- 8 Holyrood Street, London SE1 2EL

In these terms, "we", "us" and "Nine Lives" mean Eight Holyrood Ltd. "You" means anyone who uses our website, books with us, buys from us or visits our bars. "Our bars" means Nine Lives at 8 Holyrood Street, London SE1 2EL, and Nine Lives W1 at 75 Dean Street, London W1D 3PU, when it's open.
2. Using our website
- Information may change. We try to keep everything on this website accurate and up to date: opening hours, menus, prices, events and DJ line-ups. Things can change at short notice, so please check with us if something's important to your plans.
- Our content belongs to us. The words, photos, artwork and design on this website belong to us or the people who licensed them to us. You're welcome to view and share links to our pages, but please don't copy or reuse our content for commercial purposes without asking.
- Other websites are separate. Links to other websites, such as our booking page, Instagram or Spotify, are for your convenience. We're not responsible for those sites.
- Please use the site fairly. Don't try to hack, overload or interfere with the site, or use it for anything unlawful.
Our privacy policy explains how we use personal information and cookies.
3. Prices, menus and allergens
- All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT.
- Our menus, prices and offers may change. The price shown at the bar on the day is the one that applies.
- We never add a compulsory charge that isn't included in the prices shown. If a service charge is ever added to your bill, it is optional. It will be clearly shown on the bill, and you can ask for it to be removed.
- Offers and weekly events, such as Taco Royale, run for as long as we say. They may change or end, and they have no cash value.
- Allergens: our menu shows which of the 14 major allergens each dish contains. Our kitchen handles all of them, so we can't rule out traces in any dish. Please tell your server about any allergy or dietary need before you order. If you're booking, please tell us when you book as well.
4. Bookings
- You can book online for groups of up to 11. For 12 or more, or for drinks and food packages, please send us an enquiry.
- Larger groups pay a deposit to secure their area. When you book, we'll confirm in writing how much the deposit is, what it covers and our cancellation terms. Those details form part of your booking.
- Some bookings have a time limit. If yours does, we'll tell you when you book.
- If you're running late, need to change the numbers or can't make it, please let us know as soon as you can. If you don't arrive, we may give your table to someone else after a reasonable time.
- A booking confirms a space for your group. It doesn't change our house rules, including the age policy.
- If we ever have to cancel your booking, we'll tell you as soon as possible and refund any deposit in full.
5. House rules
- Over 18s only. Nine Lives is strictly 18 and over, and anyone may be asked for photo ID. We accept a passport, a photocard driving licence or a PASS-hologram ID card. If you can't show ID when asked, we may refuse entry or service.
- Our right to refuse. We may refuse entry or service, or ask anyone to leave, at our discretion. This includes anyone who appears drunk, behaves in a way that's unsafe or disrespectful to guests or our team, or doesn't follow these rules.
- Drugs and harassment are not tolerated. Anyone involved will be asked to leave, and we may call the police.
- Dogs are welcome. They need to be well behaved and kept on a lead. From Thursday to Saturday we ask that dogs head home by 9 pm, when it gets busy and the DJs are playing. Owners are responsible for their dogs.
- No smoking or vaping inside.
- Your belongings. Please keep an eye on them. We can't be responsible for anything lost, stolen or damaged in our bars unless it was our fault.
- Photos and filming. We sometimes take photos or film in the bar for our website and social media. If you'd rather not appear, tell a member of the team. If you spot yourself in something we've posted and want it taken down, email us.
- Access. Nine Lives at Holyrood Street is in a basement with no step-free access, and we're unable to accommodate wheelchairs inside the building. Please get in touch if you'd like to talk through any other access needs before you visit.
6. Gift cards
- What they are. Nine Lives gift cards are sold in £25 and £50 values on our website. They are issued by Eight Holyrood Ltd.
- How they work. Your order confirmation email is the gift card, and the order number in it identifies the card. Forward the email to whoever you're treating. To use the card, they show the email at the bar, on a phone or printed out.
- Where to use them. At Nine Lives, 8 Holyrood Street, London SE1 2EL, and at Nine Lives W1, 75 Dean Street, London W1D 3PU, when it's open. Nine Lives W1 runs in seasons. If it isn't open, the card can still be used at Holyrood Street.
- What they can be used for. Food and drink at the bar, including alongside our offers, such as Taco Royale. To put a card towards a booking, email info@ninelivesbar.com with the order number before your visit. A gift card doesn't guarantee a table. Gift cards can't be used to buy other gift cards or to pay online.
- How long they last. Gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase shown in the order confirmation email. Any balance left after that expires and can't normally be used or refunded.
- Spending over several visits. You don't have to spend it all at once. We keep track of the balance against the order number, and any money left stays on the card until it expires. Just ask at the bar if you'd like to know your balance.
- No cash. Gift cards can't be exchanged for cash, and we don't give change in cash.
- Over 18s. Our bars are for over-18s only, so gift cards can only be used by people aged 18 or over.
- Keep it safe. Treat the email like cash. Anyone who has it can use it, and the balance goes to whoever uses it first. We can't replace a balance that someone else has already spent. If the email has been lost, the person who bought the card can ask us to resend it.
- Changing your mind. The buyer can cancel a gift card up to 14 days after the day they buy it and get a full refund. If some of it has already been used, we'll refund the unused balance. See section 7 for how. After those 14 days, gift cards can't be refunded, except where the law says otherwise.
- Misuse. We may refuse or cancel a gift card that was bought fraudulently, copied, altered, or resold for profit.
- If we can't honour it. If we ever close permanently and can't honour your card, we'll offer a refund of the unused balance, and your legal rights are unaffected.
7. Buying online and cancelling
- When you place an order on our website, you're offering to buy from us. Our contract with you starts when we send your order confirmation email.
- Payment is taken securely at checkout by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
- If we make an obvious mistake with a price or a product description, we may cancel the order and refund you in full.
- You can check and correct your order before you pay. These terms are in English only. We don't keep a copy of your contract for you, so please save your order confirmation email.
- Your right to cancel: if you buy online as a consumer, you can cancel up to 14 days after the day you buy, without giving a reason. If some of the gift card has already been used, we'll refund the unused balance.
- How to cancel: email info@ninelivesbar.com with your name, your order number and the words "I want to cancel my order". We'll refund you to the card you paid with within 14 days of hearing from you, at no cost to you.
- The 14-day right to cancel doesn't apply to table bookings or to deposits for a specific date. Those follow the terms we confirm when you book.

8. Our responsibility to you
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to take reasonable care. We're not responsible for loss or damage that wasn't foreseeable.
- We provide our website and services for private use. We're not responsible for any business losses.
- For anything you buy online, our total responsibility is limited to the price you paid, unless the law says otherwise.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
9. Complaints
If something isn't right, please tell a member of the team on the night so we can try to fix it there and then. Otherwise, email info@ninelivesbar.com and we'll reply as quickly as we can, usually within a week.
10. The legal bits
- Changes. We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you book or buy is the one that applies to that booking or purchase.
- If part of these terms doesn't apply. If a court decides part of these terms isn't valid, the rest still applies.
- Gift card recipients. The person you give a gift card to can rely on section 6. Apart from that, nobody else has rights under these terms.
- Events outside our control. We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. If that affects a booking or something you've bought, we'll let you know as soon as possible, and you can cancel and get a refund for anything you've paid and not received.
- The law that applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
